our best friends from pittsburgh drove up last weekend to spend their spring break with us! we were super excited and had tons of fun together while they were here (more posts about that to come).
since i've been trying to eat really well i was nervous for them to come and visit for so long because i tend to kind of go overboard on special occasions, vacations, etc. so i decided beforehand that i would stay on track with eating healthy and correct proportions because we were in my house and i could control what we were eating, have fun, plan for treats, continue to workout, and my goal was just to maintain my weight while they were here.
jen was on board with helping me stick to my goal. she even decided that me weighing myself everyday was not necessary and maybe a tad unhealthy and decided to take my scale and hide it until they left. she decided she would give it back to me for my 'weigh in' when they left.

so what happened...i did good every day except for one (cafe rio night - for the recipe go to my cooking blog) but worked out and did strength training every day they were here minus sunday (it was super nice having a workout buddy). when the scale was brought out of its hiding place on wednesday morning before they left i found out i hadn't only maintained my weight but weighed 3 lbs. less then what i was planning on. yahoo!!! i proved to myself that i could do it :) that was a big stepping stone for me. i learned that i could be in control even in social situations and when there was good food and treats around (i need and want to partake - just not eat everything in sight). i also found out that i don't need the scale. what the scale says shouldn't determine exactly how i feel about my body. my obsession with the numbers on the scale needs to turn to a more healthy path and so the scale now remains in hiding only to be brought out once a week.
it was a good turning point for me. thanks jen for helping me :)

Erica, I love you!!!! I'm so glad you are still feeling so positive about the changes!! I know you can do it!! I'm so proud of you!! I know it wasn't easy but amen to everything you just said in the post. You are beautiful and your new body looks great. Pay more attention to that not the numbers on the scale and keep up the maintenance work. Good for you for keeping your weigh in day! Thanks so much for inspiring me to work out and eat healthier too! I'm still on track! :)
You're so funny! That is awesome that you did so well with visitors. It's hard to eat healthy. I've been trying, and it is so stressful. How my clothes fit is a better thing for me than what the scale says....I get frustrated by the scale!
