So far we've had a jam packed summer! I guess we're getting everything in while it's nice out and before we have a really low key winter with a brand new baby around :)
high adventure
Justin works with the young men at church and early this summer they traveled to the northwest side of the state for a couple day high adventure. They camped, cooked, built a boat, and did other boy stuff. It was very chill and everyone (justin and the boys included) had a great time.
pool
We got pool passes to our local community pool again this summer. The girls love going, meeting up with friends, and each have become little fishes throughout the summer.
sleep
We wear ourselves out so much that mommy has been taking quick cat naps throughout the week (which for me is unheard of) and Addy falls asleep in random places and at random times - like coloring while she waits for dinner. She is very vocal on telling me she's tired- which I love! Brooklyn on the other hand is a trooper and rarely lets those eyes of hers drop - she takes after her mama in that manner - she never wants to miss a thing :)
gardening
This was our second year taking a gardening class. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, radishes, peas, carrots, basil, and annual flowers. We've tried in our backyard before and the animals have always gotten everything. We need to try again and really do a fence and all but for now the girls love taking the class and we've all been wowed to see our garden grow so big! We have fun going to class each week, learning about plants, harvesting produce, and then staying to eat our lunch and listen to a different musical performer each week.
swim lessons
The girls took swim lessons this summer for the first time. Each were hesitant but ended up loving it and wanted me to sign them up again! Brooklyn is now wearing goggles, going under water for diving sticks, and swimming in shallow all by herself. They both continue to practice their skills but hopping in the hot tub with daddy quite often!
saying goodbye
At the end of June some of our very best friends packed up and moved down to Texas. The month before they left was packed full of family gatherings, baseball games, couple's nights out, girl's nights, park days - basically trying to see each other as much as could before they left!
We threw them a farewell right before they left where everyone they have loved and met over their past 10 years here were able to come and wish them well. We didn't get to hang out as much together that night but the laugh on Kierste's face shows that the night was just perfect - she got to reminisce, laugh, and cry over all the memories they've made here.
The morning they left we met them bright and early at their hotel to wish them luck and say one last final goodbye. Everyone was emotional and it was heartbreaking to watch them leave for the last time. We miss them dearly and look forward to our next visits together!
That's just a short synopsis of some of our June happenings - maybe by the end of summer I'll get caught up on the rest :)
