In the middle of November we headed out for a long weekend to Pittsburgh. Justin is by and large the biggest Steelers fan I know. However, he had yet to ever go to a Steeler's football game. So when my dad saw that this year the Lions and Steelers were playing each other in good 'ole Pittsburgh he bought tickets for Justin and him and he took the whole family along for a weekend of fun!
It was only a few days before Elle's first birthday so Friday, the first night we were there, we met up with Justin's family at Dave and Busters and we all celebrated this cute little lady's birthday. We ate lots of yummy food, opened presents, had cake, and then played a few games.
Everyone needed to help blow out that big candle!
Uncle Jonny has the magic touch and Elle and Addy were both sure to get their fill in snuggling him.
Elle sat next to Nana the whole night who sang songs with her, played, and gave her yummy forkfuls of cake!
With a little help Elle opened all of her presents and loved every single one!
Of course these sweet girls couldn't resist helping :)
We had such a fun night and were so grateful everyone was able to come out and celebrate with us!
That night the girls loved being in the hotel! They loved checking out the view, jumping on the beds, and running back and forth between the two rooms. (Don't mind the booty cheeks - she was in the stage where she LOVED running off instead of getting her diaper changed!)
Elle was happiest with a bath, warm bottle, and comfy bed!
The next day was spend sight seeing all over Pittsburgh. First off, we checked out the strip district. It's a street downtown that is lined with little shops, restaurants, and packed with people seeing Steelers stuff. Any Pittsburgh sport gear you would want can be found there. Justin came out with a new doormat and PaPa got Elle a nice black and yellow bib :)
We were starving after that and made a pit stop at the famous Primanti Brothers. I always tell everyone that Pittsburgh is known for putting fries on everything. I love them on my salads but Primanti Brothers is known for their yummy sandwiches - all of which are always topped with fries and coleslaw :)
Next we rode incline which is a trolley like structure that takes you on a ride up the side of the mountain to see sweeping views of the entire city.

After so much walking we couldn't help but stop for a treat! Elle got her first taste of milkshake and she couldn't get enough :)
Later that night we checked out the hotel pool and then went out for yet more food! It's one of the best parts of any vacation and always worth the 5 pounds more I come home weighing :)
Our final day was the big game! We had a yummy breakfast buffet that morning at the hotel and then I dropped the guys off (complete with their Steeler's ponchos) to make their way to the game and I headed off to the Pittsburgh Children's Museum with the kids. I'd only been there once before and we absolutely loved it so we were all excited to go back.
One of my best friends Jen was so sweet to drive up in the traffic and crazy parking to meet us for the afternoon. Once again the museum did not disappoint and we easily got to explore everything and enjoyed all of the 5 hours we were there while the guys were at the stadium.
An added bonus, Jen and I got more opportunities to perfect our selfies. Together we always try and try and swear we don't really look like this in real life. However - here are some of the best we got! It was the perfect way to end our fun filled weekend!
We stopped that night for dinner and then continued our drive home. A crazy storm was blowing through so we took it slow and got caught in monsoon rain once or twice on the way home. Luckily for us when we got home our power was not out but much of our town was. We were so grateful to have power and enjoyed a couple nice days off school because of the power situation!
P.S. The Steelers won that game :) My dad was disappointed :( That's what he gets for being scared to sport his Lion's gear in Steeler Country!!!
