Back in September some of my closest girlfriends and I went on our annual girl's trip. Since three of us had had babies within the year our trip got pushed back to the fall time which was later than normal but ended up turning out perfectly. One friend has moved away and had to fly up to Michigan to join us this year so we decided to stick around here and go somewhere close in the state. We ventured off on a quick weekend getaway to a ski resort a few hours away and enjoyed the beautiful fall trees and colors and warm Michigan weather.
Our hotel was fun and decked out with eclectic furniture and decorations including ski lodgy - swiss alps - type stuff. Our room was two floors with two bathrooms and included a cozy little fireplace that was perfect for snuggling and watching movies, staying up late chatting, and laughing our heads off while playing games together.
We started our trip out right - going to the grocery store and picking up some goodies for the weekend! Then we all piled in the car and started our couple hour trek up north. Our car rides are never long enough. Each one of us always agrees that our time in the car is probably one of the best parts of each trip. We talk and talk and talk and open up and share such deep personal things. We cry and laugh and giggle some more and always end up feeling so much closer and refreshed from being together.
It happened to be Kierste's birthday while we were gone for the weekend which made it even more special! Although she didn't wear her crown around everywhere we did celebrate with cake which we all helped devour in like...2 days ;)
Our one friend Lyndi got the awesome idea from a Happy Meal toy that we all should wear bat glasses (and she even made us capes to match) while we went on our Segway tour on our trip. It started off somewhat embarrassing and then because oh so hilarious and cool as a bunch of 30 something year old moms complete with 24 kiddos were zipping around the resort as bat-woman! So glad our tour guide Chris was such a good sport - just wished we would have thought to make him one!
Here we are complete decked out and ready to go!
The Segway tour was so much fun and something I would definitely want to do again! Definitely a little learning curve at first but then you get the feel of it quite quickly! We rode on dirt roads, rocky paths through the woods, up and down hills, etc. - it was so much fun - and a special bonus - we all made it back alive without any injuries :)
Even though it was the end of September the weather that weekend was absolutely beautiful! After riding the Segways we found a little restaurant in the resort and ate lunch on their cute little outside patio. We got yummy salads, and sandwiches, and fries (can never leave out fries while on a girl's trip) - and we all shared so we could have a taste of everything!
Saturday we spent our morning ziplining. We got to ride the chair lift up the mountain and then we took a 10 line tour down. It was so fun to get to ride 10 different zip lines. The guides showed us how to flip upside down, do somersaults, etc. It was a first time for me and I can't wait to do it again!
Saturday we also did our other most favorite and essential part of each and every girl's trip - the spa. I love going to the spa. And since I only go on our girl's trip once a year that massage is a long waited treat for me. We went and got in robes, sat and drank fruit water, listened to relaxing music, read or slept as we waited on comfy lounge chairs till our turn was up - pure heaven! My massage was perfect and probably the best one I've ever had so far. We even hit up the sauna, steam room, and hot tubs as well!
Unfortunately, Lyndi had been asked to take of her wedding ring during her massage and once she got dressed she forgot to put it back on and it ended up getting put in the laundry while still hiding out in the pocket of her robe! Even though the spa had closed they let us back in and we were able to search the hampers and luckily for us, Lyndi found her ring! It was a scary few minutes there for awhile!
We ended our trip with more food and a little shopping. Apparently, all the excitement wore some of us out :)
We were all so sad to drive home Saturday night and know that our trip had come to an end. The next week took off after church to drive Kierste to the airport and say our goodbyes once more :( It was a perfect rejuvenating weekend like always and I'm already looking forward to our next one!
Love you girls!
xoxo
