This is probably the mantra of every girl's trip I take with my besties. We love food and that's probably one of the number one things we love about going on trips together - all the yummy food we get to try!
This year our goal was to hop on the DOW shuttle and take a flight down to Texas to visit our bestie in Houston. However, due to some booking issues and whatnot we thought it better not to risk it but to have her come up here to Michigan. So at the last minute we changed plans and had to jump on figuring out where we were going to go, where we were going to stay, what we were going to do, etc.
We decided on Chicago since there is a ton to do and see and eat there and it is only a 6 hour drive from us. We love it there and had so much fun!
We may have went to Garrett's Popcorn more than once...
One of our friends introduced us to the best Italian place last time we went to Chicago and this time we knew we had to go back. Here I am munching (or devouring) my leftover pasta that night. We definitely had many a nights eating leftovers, decadent desserts, or Chicago style pizza in our jammies from the comfort of our cozy beds in the hotel room!
One of the fun things we did this time we were there was go on a 6-stop chocolate tour. It was so fun to walk around the city and discover so many little shops and eateries and try samples of chocolate from each one. We had cupcakes, cake pops, donuts, gelato, and many divine little morsels of super expensive foreign chocolate. By the end of the 2 hour tour I was quietly placing my samples in my purse for fear of barfing everywhere after so many yummy treats had made it into my already full belly.
This pretty much explains how we all felt after the chocolate tour!
We tried to get a groupie shot at each stop on our chocolate tour and then that tradition kind of ran throughout the rest of the trip. So sorry but most of the picks are just a bunch of groupies of us!
Besides eating lots of good food at a lot of different yummy places we also shopped, walked and walked, went to the spa (a must on each and every one of our girl's trips) and saw Divergent on the IMAX at Navy Pier. So awesome to see that movie on the IMAX - may have loved it even more than the book ;)
Our final night we got fancied up and headed out to see a magic show. I've never been to anything like that but it was very well done and super entertaining. Although there were some tricks we could reasonably figure out how he did them there were also some that left us questioning. He was a great entertainer and his show had a really good uplifting message to it in the end. Here we all are hunched down posing to get a picture with him - he was great :)
It was once again an awesome trip! I look forward to these girl's trips every year and am so lucky to have a husband who is so supportive to take time off work, hold down the fort at home, and fork over some cash to allow me to spend some time with my girls on a getaway every year!
I'm so blessed to have these four lovely ladies as part of my life. I am so grateful for their friendships, support, and amazing examples. I love them to death and am lucky to have them as my best friends! Love you girls and already looking forward to 2015!
