{mother's day}

Mother's Day was extra special this year. The Friday before Mother's Day Brooklyn's preschool held a Mother's Day Tea. The mom's came and were pinned with a flower, sang songs to, had pictures taken, and then had a snack where they presented us with a special present they had made - a clay handprint they painted and a special book they wrote about their mom.

 I loved being at school with Brooklyn - just me and her. We enjoyed sharing our snack together and our special time just the two of us!

 

This year for Mother's Day my mom and her siblings planned a get together for all of our extended family at my grandma's house. On Friday we drove down and ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Detroit and then spend the night at my grandma's. On Saturday everyone came for lots of yummy food and hanging out.

My grandma (the great grandkids call her gg) shocked expression as my mom and her siblings presented her with her Mother's Day gift - a new flat screen TV.

 

She was completely surprised and now has a nice fancy TV to watch her Lifetime movies on!

My mom has 2 brothers and 3 sisters - here she is with her three sis's.

One of Brooklyn's favorite parts of gg's house - her many many toys to play with & her food. GG has a special yellow bedroom that was actually my mom's growing up. It's full of dolls, stuffed animals, barbies, and a hundred other toys for the kid's to play with. And what else will you find at gg's house - chips and either Drumsticks or Klondike bars. Here's Brooklyn enjoying her late night Klondike bar before bed - she's one lucky girl when we're at gg's house!

We ended our weekend on Sunday by going to church and then spending the day at my mom's house. She loved her present from the girls and even cried reading her card.

It was a beautiful day so after lunch we spend the entire afternoon lounging around outside enjoying the weather. We drove home that night where my girls gave me a pretty necklace they picked out themselves, a cute card, and some yummy chocolates.

It was the perfect weeeknd and I loved being able to spend it with all those woman that are so important to me. My grandma who raised 6 kids and from those came my strong independent mother who has helped shaped me into who I am. To my aunts who have babysat me from my youth and been examples to me. To my kids who have given me the opportunity to be a mother here on this earth and who daily teach me more and more on how to be more like the Savior.
